ByulTago

Overview

This project addressed the lack of safety data on sidewalks and bike lanes by designing ByulTago, a cyclist-centered reporting platform.

Existing detection systems focus on car roads, leaving cyclists with no safe way to report hazards while riding.

Methods

24 cyclist interviews and surveys

Analysis of phone usage during rides

Mapping defect frequency and locations

Key Insight

Cyclist hazards remain invisible because no reporting method fits the realities of riding, leaving sidewalks and bike lanes as data blind spots.

Solution

ByulTago enables cyclists to report hazards directly from the navigation screen without disrupting their ride. Reports are automatically mapped, turning individual submissions into shared, real-time hazard awareness.
